Give thanks- Wonders are all around

As a little girl on a trip to Texas to see family at Christmas, I was thrilled to see my first fireflies. At first just a few, and then, they seemed to fill the night in front of the car's headlights. It was amazing the way the shining little little lights danced in the headlights and then it appeared as thought we were being engulfed by a swarm! A dear friend had a similar experience when he awoke to a surprise and ran to tell his parents about the pretty white carpet someone had placed in their yard.....You guessed it, both were "first snow" experiences.

It is amazing all that God has created and how - even now when snow falls, I feel the child-like wonder rise up in me again. I want to skip and run from window to window to see it and declare - It's snowing!

Give thanks to the LORD of lords, for His lovingkindness is everlasting. To Him who alone does great wonders, for His lovingkindness is everlasting; to Him who made the heavens with skill, for His lovingkindness is everlasting; To Him who spread out the earth above the waters...who made the great lights...the sun to rule by day...and the moon and stars to rule by night, for His lovingkindness is everlasting. Bless someone on purpose today

In response to all He has done for us, let us outdo each other in being helpful and kind to each other and in doing good. Hebrews 10:24 (TLB)

Today we all rest warmly in the knowledge that we live with a roof over our head and I can imagine a bounty of blessings that are beyond the imagination of others in our country and world. So today – whether your wealth is of joy, love, monetary, gratitude – show it. Live it out ON PURPOSE.

There's often someone struggling with packages in a store - a door held open with a smile would be a gift at that moment.

What about the person with the stressed look and one item in the grocery store who had the unhappy luck of finding no free lines - surely they are on their way somewhere and fretting being late. Wouldn't a welcome switch in line be a gift?

How about helping your neighbor with the lights or what about the neighbor you've noticed normally celebrates big and there's no sign this year....wouldn't a beautiful wreath and a "how are you?" bless them?

ON PURPOSE - Let's outdo one another showing love and compassion for others and each other.

Seek to Have Beautiful Feet

Amidst the turmoil of our times, when people turn on one another rather than working together toward a common goal, it is wonderful to hear good news. Today, I was blessed to hear such news....to know that a friend is a friend indeed. How wonderful to make another feel as grand as I today. I would love to be that bearer of good news to another. I'm going to look for new ways to share good news every day!

Help Each Other To See - We're not finished yet.

Sadly, each day's headlines seem to bring new levels of human misdeeds - crises in conscience and morality across the board. But, my friend, do not be discouraged for there is hope and you don't have to wait for the "light at the end of the tunnel," you can take courage today with gratitude and thanksgiving for a new era that starts today. You may not see it on a large scale at first, but the truth is....He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6

Isn't that amazing? No matter where you are today...He's not finished with you yet, and you are still on your way to coming into your own. So fret not - continue with each baby step toward the dream that keeps you awake at night - the success of your heart. And above all...Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor...Romans 12:10 Help another to see their potential, to realize that they, too are a work in progress.

Let's carry each other through...

Oh that it could be said of believers that we are of one mind, loving, caring, healing, and looking after the best interest of others. If we were doing our job as "the church" I believe we wouldn't be able to fit all of the people seeking refuge, love and kindness from the cruelties of this world. Alas, we can, as a handful, be those people - one at a time - one by one - bringing hope in a time of chaos if we stay connected through the Word. Wouldn't it be great to give a real present this Christmas - one of eternal significance and stay focused on that throughout the year?


Make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. Philippians 2:2–4

There is plenty of hurt and heartache should we care to look for it, but I submit that you will find it in the cubicle next to yours, the neighbor down the street or clerk at the store. They will tell you, if you listen, about the load they bare even now. Can you help shoulder the load?

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2

give thanks and engulf your sisters and brothers in love

Last evening on Nancy Grace I witnessed a man broken, crying out to God asking for faith in the midst of his devastating pain as he had learned that his 5 year old daughter's body had been found. He then cried out, "I know you walk with me. You never leave me." After another pause - he cried from his heart over and over "I love you Jesus." Anyone who knows me knows that my eyes were full of tears with news of his great pain, but to see his faith in the midst as he was held up by other believers - literally - was what took my breath away.

His witness was OUT LOUD for all of us to see - as was the witness of his fellow believers who held him and praised the Lord for His sacrifice for us. Oh to be in the midst of pain in soundly in His presence.... my beloved friends, let us.... Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:19–20 In this way, when we feel lost, we are whole and loved and lifted by our true family.

Know the answer is near

Often of late, I've been in need of wisdom - for words, actions and direction. I know it is promised when we seek the Lord, but when referring to this promise, we are also called to have faith and do not doubt.

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. James 1:5-8

The words of a wise man speaking on faith came to mind. He asked - what is the first thing you do when you walk into a dark room? We all answered pretty much in unison that it is to switch on the light so that you can see where you are going. He then showed us the faith we initiate when reaching for the switch and our expectation that the room will be illuminated. Certainly, we do exhibit faith every time we reach for a light switch. In fact, we are surprised if the light does not come on. It is with the same expectation that we should go before the throne with our request for wisdom...with the assurance that God will answer our prayer. Further, we should actually feel the relief as we know His answer is coming and He will reveal the way and illuminate our path. Certainly, God is not a switch to be turned or manipulated, but rather we should hold the faith we do when turning on a light switch in the One who Is and Was and Will be - the Alpha and Omega. He is so much more trustworthy than what we see with our eyes before us.

I hope today holds much light, wisdom and faith for you.

Start a new week with a new attitude of gratitude

There is a true story about a young lady with terminal cancer, who was a beautiful bride to her high school sweetheart. She was every bit the princess bride - utterly gorgeous. Five days later, she succumbed to her battle with cancer. Her joy was contagious - but it also stung as I am more often than extravagant in the way I may waste time or procrastinate. So, this week, I start anew to work as though it is my first day on the job, appreciate my family and friends as though it is my perhaps my last chance and to love without measure - sharing the love first shown me by my Creator.

“Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain” (Philippians 2:16).

A New Week - Encourage Another

Good Morning and Good New Week to you!

As the weather vacillates between summer and autumn – one day warm winds and another a cool chill in the air – we are able to stand strong with a few adaptations. We may require a jacket or to remove one as the wind stills and the sun shines upon us.

Often the wind blows in our lives and feel the need for safety, protection and “jacket” ourselves with a variety of things. Sometimes it is isolation, pushing away others; losing self in food, old movies or even shopping. None of those, however, will culminate in a new dawn of hope and determination.

“Jacket” yourself in the truth and at least one trusted friend. Often, in these times, we don’t see clearly without another to reflect back to us… even believing we “know” in our minds is often in error at those times…. We are hurt or afraid and need a hand not to push away others, but to embrace and be embraced.

Today – if someone has been treating you a bit differently or acting “out of sorts.” Extend your hand and a smile that welcomes… you may be the first to do so and it may be all they needed to be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel or to renew hope and faith.

1 Thessalonians 5:11Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

Lend a hand today, looking out from our busy-ness, my friend, and surely your time will be well spent.

A New Dayt

There is a story of a little boy who – while playing with a slingshot – killed his grandmother’s duck that she loved to watch swim in her pond.

The boy became his sister’s slave as she blackmailed him with the information - leaving him to doing her chores as well as his own. Finally, breaking down, he confessed to his grandmother, who kindly confessed to him that she had known all along for she’d been at the kitchen window when the duck was killed and saw the whole thing. She was only waiting for him to come to her – he was already forgiven.

So it is with our Father in Heaven. This season finds remnants and memories of the past and broken relationships, of failures as another year closes, of deeds for which we would not be proud to have displayed in the town square (gossip, a drink too many, an unkind word or action, an untoward thought, a slip into an old addiction… the possibilities are many and as unique as each individual).

The good news is that Your Father was standing at the window and saw – you’ve been forgiven – and He doesn’t want you succumbing to the shame that continues to heap upon you unless you receive His forgiveness.

Today is a NEW DAY - Rejoice and be glad in it! Forgive yourself and be mindful that others are struggling through the same story – different details. Be kind and loving to them, too. You never know what visions/thoughts are keeping them down.

Beloved, let us love one another – for love is of God and he who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love, does not know God for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8


Let’s be beacons of hope, light and life and touch all of those around us. It is a legacy.

Live today in kindness - On Purpose

The other day I we were traveling down a road and became perturbed by a car stopped in the middle of the road blocking accesd in and out of a convenience store/gas station. As we lamented at our inconvenience, an ambulance came and stopped behind the vehicle. I felt so bad. I had no idea someone was in distress and had been so selfish in my thoughts. Later I found out about hidden agendas and the stress on the faces of some co-workers became more apparent.

As the news broke that September held the highest unemployment percentages yet in our state, I was reminded of how incredibly blessed I am to have a job, home and family. So - today - on purpose - I will endeavor to love better and to show each person I come in contact with that they count. Won't you join me?

Being Grateful for You

Today I am grateful that we are all “wired” differently – so unique in looks, size, shape, perspective, life experience, dream, goals, and gifts.

Truly our gifts are meant to bless one another…and God’s gifts have been so gracious and so very big, yet required only a word on His part. Amazing that we will look in the mirror and find every fault – each new sign that we are a day older and criticize what God called “very good” and created “in His image.” While we may see the beauty in others – we do not see what they see in us. How we take for granted that great and awesome heritage and the One Who delights in us so. Remember you are important enough that He knows your name – and yes, even the number of hairs on your head.

I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful , I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

When we look around – let us not only see the beauty in another, but join in the celebration He intends – LIVING ON PURPOSE – and proclaiming loudly:

O Lord, what a variety You have made! And in wisdom You have made them all! The earth is full of Your riches. Psalm 104:24

Have you ever been so taken aback by something that your knees nearly buckled from under you? Have you had to take time, quietly, in your heart to try to figure things out? Judging from the emails about accidents and the daily news, I would imagine you have.

Luckily, we have a guide, directions to go on - in whom to place our trust and hope...our perfect Creator, Lord God Almighty. Trust in HIm with all your heart - He will never lead you astray or disappoint....or hide from you.

In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Psalm 31-1

You are understood

Have you ever felt misunderstood, relegated to the "back seat" and as though your words and the love, joy and admiration with which they were sent did not meet the hearer in the same way as you had intended? The backlash of such misunderstanding is always painful and finds its place in the heart to ache. I know what "crestfallen" is for I have felt that at such times. While some are stubborn and refuse to receive such love, insistingon alternate meanings to our compliment and encouragement - we are never misunderstood by God.

It is so comforting to know that our Father in Heaven never misunderstands or twists our words because He is the lover of our soul. He has (A)searched me and known me. 2)[He] knows when I sit down and when I rise up; [He} (C)understand my thought from afar. 3[He] (D)scrutinizes my path and my lying down, And [is] intimately acquainted with all my ways. 4Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You (E)know it all. (Psalm 139:1-4)

What a joy to be known to our deepest depths and loved unconditionally even with all our "warts" bared. Our God will never leave us. For he promises - I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5).


Today, dear friends, I hope you can hold on to and rest in these truths. You are amazing and were created to be the best you imagine and dream to be. Count on it. Live it on purpose today.

Trust...

How many times do you catch yourself saying "I wish" I could do this or this problem would go away? While wishing upon a star seemed like a great idea as a youngster and I still make a wish upon a falling star, there is one place where we CAN place our trust and hopes. I have always found it in one of my favorite verses:

Be anxious for nothing, but in all things through prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6

:There have been times when - with all of my heart - I thanked God for provision that was needed, but I knew He would provide (there have also been those times where it was more of a challenge and I would say to God - You say this and now I am believing you for it). Each time when the provision came, my hope was renewed and my faith increased. Is there some situation in your life today that you would like to see change? Well - I suggest you roll up your shirt sleeves for your part and trust fully in God for the rest. You take that first step in faith and He will carry you the rest of the way - if you let Him.

When people read you- what do they find?

I thank my God every time I remember you. Philippians 1:3

D.L. Moody once said of 10 men, 1 will read the Bible, the other 9 will read the Christian. His words before me, I am ever aware responding to my own query – how good a read are you? Will others see the Light of the World and be lead into His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise? A friend sent this to me and I share it with you... it goes to the heart of the question..

Now this is the Living Bible:His name is Bill. He has wild hair, wears a T-shirt with holes in it, jeans, and no shoes. This was literally his wardrobe for his entire four years of college. He is brilliant. He is kind of profound and very, very bright. He became a Christian while attending college.Across the street from the campus is a well-dressed, very conservative church. They want to develop a ministry to the students but are not sure how to go about it.One day Bill decides to go there. He walks in with no shoes, jeans, his T-shirt, and wild hair. The service has already started and so Bill starts down the aisle looking for a seat. The church is completely packed and he can't find a seat. By now, people are really looking a bit uncomfortable, but no one says anything. Bill gets closer and closer and closer to the pulpit, and when he realizes there are no seats, he just squats down right on the carpet.By now the people are really uptight, and the tension in the air is thick.

About this time, the minister realizes that from way at the back of the church, a deacon is slowly making his way toward Bill. Now the deacon is in his eighties, has silver-gray hair, and a three-piece suit. He is a godly man, very elegant, very dignified, very courtly. He walks with a cane and, as he starts walking toward this boy, everyone is saying to themselves that you can't blame him for what he's going to do. How can you expect a man of his age and of his background to understand some college kid on the floor?It takes a long time for the man to reach the boy. The church is utterly silent except for the clicking of the man's cane. All eyes are focused on him. You can't even hear anyone breathing. The minister can't even preach the sermon until the deacon does what he has to do.And now they see this elderly man drop his cane on the floor. With great difficulty, he lowers himself and sits down next to Bill and worships with him so he won't be alone.Everyone chokes up with emotion. When the minister gains control, he says, "What I'm about to preach, you will never remember. What you have just seen, you will never forget""Be careful how you live. You may be the only Bible some people will ever read!"

How amazing to know that regardless of the gook and grime in our lives – the uncertainty and everchanging tide – we can count on this…. God loves you and has an amazing plan for your life. He remains faithful and on the throne.

Keep on doing good!

Recently I have had the "pleasure" of going through quite a red-tape process and I must admit, at one point today I just wanted to give up and to be honest, my attitude became a bit stinky! Well, I've had a few moments alone - and some encouragers in my evening. I know each of you works toward helping others each day (I believe in you - and word gets around) and I thought perhaps you could use the same encouragement that I needed to hear today. So...I will continue to work toward what I know is good and right and give each day's glory to God. In the meantime - let's keep on keeping on and ...
Let us not become weary in doing good,
For at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.
Galatians 6:9-10

Sometimes it’s hard to move ahead with a smile and optimism when disappointment strikes our doorstep and we have worked so hard toward something. But be encouraged today that the truth is….at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

So take the opportunity at hand – this new day – and do good to all people.

Take today's opportunites

Today is a new day…. As each moment passes, we will not have the opportunity to recapture it… it must be treated as a precious jewel and made to count. William Penn said:

I expect to pass through life but once.
If, therefore, there can be any kindness I can show,
Or any good thing I can do to any fellow being,
Let me do it now… as I shall not pass this way again.

Have you thought to yourself something you ought to do? Have you kept to yourself a compliment or congratulations due another? Have you scheduled time today to make a call or lend a hand?

How do you see others & self?

Over the past year, there has been an addition to my face - reading glasses. After a full day in front of a computer working on documents my eyes would become “fuzzy” when trying to read. Eventually I found myself seeking my reading glasses early in the day as my eyes became “fuzzy” and reading was difficult. Now, more often than not, I am wearing my reading glasses from the start of my day on the computer.

While my eyes may be becoming “weaker” in some areas, it is my prayer that they will remain strong in their ability to see others from the inside out. The beauty of other people that shines through in their graciousness, kindness, friendliness, etc. I hope I always enjoy “lovely eyes.”

For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.

I challenge you to use lovely eyes when you look in the mirror as well for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7b That person in the mirror is often unforgiven, underappreciated and harshly treated (by self) as we fail to administer the same the grace, love and compassion that we show others.

So smile at the person in the mirror and those whom you are in contact with today. Look for the good in someone in whom you’ve found it difficult to find before and smile as you see anew.

Live on Purpose

It never ceases to amaze me how time flies…and we forget it’s preciousness until it has passed. We get lost in the mundane, the hurriedness of daily life and forget the important. It’s days where sleep passed too quickly the night before that I find myself putting on bright colors, requiring a smile of myself and looking again at what important, fun and even motivating thing I will do today to make it count – to live it ON PURPOSE.

5"Before I (A)formed you in the womb I knew you, And (B)before you were born I consecrated you; I have (C)appointed you a prophet to the nations." Jeremiah 1:5

I am reminded to be grateful and to express that boldly as we are reminded that if we do not tell the world of our Creator – the very rocks will cry out.

May today hold new adventures, new plans, new life and at least one step toward creating a legacy from a life lived ON PURPOSE.

It can all start with a SMILE.

Take a step toward your legacy

No eye has seen nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him. 1 Corinthians 2:9

How awesome is that!?! The dream, heart’s desire that you put away should be pulled from the dust, shook off and worn! It IS meant to be that you will achieve. Dream Big! It is the dream that returns over and over to your heart and mind that is inspired and you CAN achieve…. You haven’t even imagined fully what God can do with that. Just plan and take that first step today… or maybe you’ve taken some steps… and are resting on the landing – not sure whether to head up or go back down and forget it. Take the step up. You are worth it… after all, it can’t compare with what He sees. So I dare you – take the step forward…. smile and let all see the twinkle in your eye.

I am grateful that today is a new day and that No eye has seen nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him.

I’m taking my step…….it’s your turn now.

Into the sun and forward

Ever turn a corner from a dark place into the light of day with someone you care deeply about?

Suddenly the sun is shining - even in the midst of clouds.

You see renewed hope and life as the dawn breaks from pain and fear.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:5-7)

Today in this new and wonderful day, I encourage you to take a gander outside at the beautiful blue sky - take in the color, think of those most near and dear to your heart and say “thank you.” It is a fresh beginning filled to the brim with opportunities to "get it right.” Today holds the key to tonight’s restful sleep and tomorrow’s success. So plan your “random acts of love” – remind yourself to smile (even if you don’t feel like it) and do one thing from your list – the most important thing today……. You aren't finished - dream big!

Sometimes we find ourselves feeling overwhelmed, just trying to keep our footing in the sand that seems to be washing from beneath our feet, let alone trying to move forward….

Good news!! Today is a new day full of new challenges, opportunities and even a new friend or two. Remember – nothing today is by accident. There will be amazing people dropped before you for whom a mere smile will trigger a conversation or an elevated spirit in both of you.

Remember your big rocks – those items of greatest importance in your life. Get at least one in to your day today: it may be as simple as a phone call to a friend, getting in a work out, reading a chapter in a book, or simply planning your week or day for tomorrow. You will derive energy and a sense of accomplishment great enough to propel you into the remainder of your day and even tomorrow with a renewed sense of purpose, for there are great plans for you that have already begun.

Remember… dream big and each small step will account for more than you bargained for. Your legacy is depending on it.

For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. (Philippians 1:5-7)

We each have a choice - Be one person

Tonight I watched a movie with an excellent line - "it is not about how much natural talent you have, we all have choices." This is so very true. To the degree that each is given, it can be used for good or evil.

The choices we make in public and maybe even more importantly, in private, are those that make up who we are. Are your words faithful to a friend when they are away? Is your love sound, remaining true when your partner is away? Does your work ethic extend to when the boss is not looking? Would any one be surprised by your personality and behavior away from them?

We are called to be one person all the time - openly and in private; to live out loud and make each day one of enduring significance. What eternal treasure did you bring to the day? Did you acknowledge someone who often goes un-noticed? Did you love another in word or deed? Did you share the Word with another? These are the things of eternal signficance and those things that make - truly - each day memorable bearing a mark. Remember.....

The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Make every day significant!

On this special - very special - 09-09-09 date a friend enjoyed a life altering event as well - she got married! We send our blessings to Cheryl and Jim!!

While this day will stay blazened in their lives with significance, it begs the question, why not make every a day that is blazened in significance? I must admit, there are far too many days that pass without reference because I failed to utilize them to their full. While I thank God for each day, I squander. Oh - what a waste to squander a gift so precious and rare - for it will not come again and I've no idea what tomorrow holds.

I will set out to bless and accomplish at least one thing that will (besides Cheryl and Jim's anniversary) emblazen the date in my heart! And in their honor today I give you 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a:

Love - especially when something's amiss

When people behave in a way that we do not understand, we are quick to put up or defenses or to look upon them with mistrust and fear (often masked by anger). Truly, this does not serve us.

1 Corinthians 13 is commonly referred to as the “love chapter” and verses 4 through 8a encourage us to/defines love as follows: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy. It does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.


The best way to live according to psychologists and John 17 is wide open… let your truth be known and live it out loud. If someone calls into question who you are… talk it out. Often we hit a bump in a friendship or other relationship and assume we know motives, intentions and even feelings based upon our own reactions/actions in the same situation. We fail to remember that everyone is stuck with living their own truth, scars, wounds, bandages and that ever delightful baggage and all.

So what do we do with friends/loved ones when they behave in a way we don’t understand? According to 1st Corinthians, we are patient and kind – not easily angered – and we trust, hope and persevere…and ask. Keep the doors of communication open. We are meant to share each others burdens which brings all that much more joy when there are rejoices to delight in…… so today –

Live wide open, big, bright and beautiful – sharing, spreading, realizing and experiencing love.

New day – New spark in the eyes!

Love One Another

Often I will be watching or listening to the news with a loved one and the question will be posed, “why can’t people just get along?” There is but one ingredient – though large and infinite – that is missing from the equation in all of the atrocities that humans commit against others.

I’ll let Mother Teresa’s words fill in the gap here, ”Open your hearts to the love God instills…. God loves you tenderly. What He gives you is not to be kept under lock and key, but to be shared.”

For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

A new command I give to you, love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. John 13:34

Wow – each day as I am confronted with yet another report of human suffering or crimes committed upon individuals, I can not help but wonder what our world would be like if we only loved as God loves us. The first obstacle is often to get through our own way and accept the overflowing love poured out upon us so that we can fully and easily share - even by our presence - the love of God.

Allow yourself to receive the love from God today and then watch as you share the love that has been poured out to overflowing upon you with others.

Inspired

Sunday night I found myself restless and unable to sleep. I turned on the tv and happened upon the movie "In Pursuit of Happyness" again. It is a great film that runs the gammet of emotions and boy was I blessed. Christopher Gardner is a man who was born into a life filled with challenges and a mother who told him "if you want to, one day you could make a million dollars." He believed her despite the absence of a father in his life and spending time in and out of foster homes as circumstances unfolded. But he credits his mother with instilling "strong spiritual genetics" and some of the greatest lessons of his life that he still calls upon and lives by. His wife, who had stopped believing in him, left him and he insisted on keeping their young (pre-K) son so that he would not grow up without a father. They struggled. The challenges were many. Each time he would start to get a leg up (some money in the bank) something would happen that would knock his feet from beneath him again. They found themselves homeless during his internship at Dean Witter, yet he performed flawlessly and with an attitude that would cause many of us to blush as we relax in homes with many rooms. He was the only intern in 1981 to be offered a position (and most likely the only trainee that did not sport a college education). He is the CEO of Chris Gardner International holdings with offices in New York, San Francisco and Chicago. In 2006 he sold his portion in the Gardner & Rich partnership for several million dollars.

There is a point where he tries to gently tell his son not to take too much hope in making it big as a basketball player as he had not been so grand. You see Chris Junior's face fall. Upon realizing the effect of his words on his son, he turned to him and said, "Don't you ever let anyone tell you that you can't do something - even if it's me." WOW!!! The strength of those words coming from a father!

"Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to those who love Him...Every good thing bestowed and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting of shadow." (James 1:12, 17)

How amazing! There is no variation in God. He bestows every good and perfect gift from above. I am inspired by Chris Gardner, but hold to the promise of our Lord God. Every day is a new day with the promise of a new beginning...and a new tomorrow.

You Are Fearfully & Wonderfully Made..

There was a movie with John Candy entitled "Only the Lonely" where Maureen O'Hare (who played John Candy's mother) was always "telling it like it is." The problem was that she did so whether it hurt others or not...often the former was the case. She would point out "short comings" or "faults" of others that they were certainly aware of, but she had a talent for knocking people off their feet in so doing. She would leave them devastated and reeling from "just telling it like it is." While comedic in the movie setting (for the most part), it is not when we encounter it in our daily lives. Is there someone in your life who makes you feel like you are never quite good enough?

I would have to ask, "where is the love?" While speaking the truth in love may help someone to better understand themself and assist them in growing, "just telling it like it is" without regard for another's feelings is not love at all, but rather mean spirited and unkind. I am so grateful for our amazing Creator who tells us that we are "fearfully and wonderfully made...and that my soul knows it full well." I am so glad that God believes in us and administers words of healing, and that He has taught us how to recognize those in whom we can trust with our heart by how they cherish and recognize that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. I am blessed each day to be told how much I am loved among other uplifting, wonderful things that help me to bloom in this world. It has not always been so...there have been times when I was so low, another "telling it like it is" from someone "close" to me would drop me. I pray in those times for you that you are able to draw from the rich resource of the Word and be washed over by the truth – that you are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made and that you soul will shine forth welling up from inside so that you DO KNOW IT FULL WELL.

All Things Become New - Even You

The sky has been busy the last couple of days. I love to watch as the clouds grow and build. Sometimes they are fruitful and produce life-giving rain, while other times they dissipate and there is barely evidence that they were ever there.


As the rain came down, it was amazing how quickly the desert flora turned green. It was transformed! The old, dry, browns and greys came alive in greens, the different shades of the mountains proudly displayed yellows, greens, reds.... spectacular!

Do you ever feel "blah" as though all is just shades of gray? Open the Word and remember who you are. It is lifegiving and as you spend time in your relationship with Christ...you will be transformed and made new. Allow yourself to dream the dreams He has given you and to take that step in faith toward all things new. Don't let the past hold you from a promising and wonderful new future.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. (2 Cor. 5:17)

Tenacity & Joy

Yesterday I read a great story. I think it's who I aspire to be...tee hee.... about a 63 year old woman who had been found (after five days) stranded on a river, her little inflatible fishing boat stuck to debri from a storm. Her son's comment to a reporter a day or two after she went missing was that "she's probably out somewhere she shouldn't be." And sure enough, in his opinion, she had been - out by herself fishing on the river. I admire her tenacity and spirit. She was a bit weather worn and dehydrated but was fully recovering and I'll bet she'd be so fun to know. I wonder if she used to have a partner in crime (like Lucy had Ethel).

I can think of many an adventure with friends or family where we laughed so hard at our predicament that we could not stand or in one case, see for the tears from laughing so hard. I hope you can, even now, cite one of those times and revel in the joy of it. It's the same joy, I believe we can bring to this world every day...the same joy that I pray you experience from God.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)

So, as this day unfolds - reflect - enjoy and project the joy of this life in the midst of it all.

You are loved - even if you don't feel it right now.

I have received some lovely emails lately that remind us of those who've been and remain in our lives as well as those who have come and gone. They refer to "keepers" or what I call "heart friends." When we have a conversation with a heart friend, it is as if no time has been lost - the connection strong and we spend the first part of our time catching up, We are left stronger for the experience as our heart sings in the connection to our dear friend. Yet, there are times where we feel out of sorts and wish for the close connection, but do not reach out to another, feel even as though we can not. Sometimes i find that it is my Father trying to get my attention...to remind me of His love and it is immeasurable. So when I am feeling lost and alone, it is then that i finally fall still and realize that the Lord your God is with you…He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

Wow!!! He will rejoice over you with singing!! Awesome… now doesn’t that put a smile on your face? Let’s rejoice over another today and spread the joy. If you aren't feeling it just yet, reflect on His love for you and know that it is true...listen as He rejoices over you with singing right now, this moment, exactly where you are - as you are.

Take A Step Toward Hope and Joy

What a wonderful weekend. Wonderful time spent "back to the basics" enjoying simple and wonderful activities. Joy found in polishing, driving and simply spending time with friends. Yet, even in the comfort and joy of great company of new and old friends, I found that I was awash in fear when an innocent idea was presented... it took me back to a time in my life where fear ruled and I succumbed to the "what if"s. Ugh!!! My mind raced, and as I found by a loved one's question, my demeanor immediately changed. I had no idea that what I believed to be my "hidden fear" was so visible. During a time in silence, I found "my knees" in my heart and addressed the fear, hoping the damage in it's revelation would be minimal. While it's clear there are some scars still painful to the touch, I start this new week with great hope and joy. What a privilege and joy to be able to count on our instruction manual for guidance - if I only trust. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Romans 15:13)

This week I will resolve to trust more fully every day and move forward in joy and hope overflowing. Let's have a great week

Reach toward and Think upon your dreams

Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. Philippians 4:8

The more I am learning about “ye have not because ye ask not” and be anxious for nothing but in all things through prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus; the more I understand how important it is to think about the noble, right, pure, lovely and admirable. As I have come to understand it, even nuclear physicists have found that when we are happy the vibration of our cells is at a higher rate – and when sad, a lower rate. When we dwell on those things listed above, we attract more of that into our lives. When we dwell on the negative and are fearful – we attract those very things that inhabit our thoughts – whether we are seeking them or concentrating on NOT wanting them.

So today – in power – think on these things and the highest goals and purpose in your life. Let those thoughts occupy your heart, mind and soul and you will see the doors opening just as promised… and the peace that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus

It’s a new day – another page in your legacy.

Find the beautiful - the pure around you.

Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. Philippians 4:8

Pure – without imperfection, innocent – unadulterated. When I see the shades of color in the sky – there is one that I’ve never seen successfully reproduced. My heart sings at the viewing and delights at the wonder of God’s artistry. As I view the blooming flowers or the cherubic face of a baby or small child…or the clasped hands of an elderly couple who have weathered many storms, but whose love is perfect in the moment….I stand in wonder.

Find that which is pure around you and revel in it…let it sweep you off your feet and make you smile.

Be noble today....

Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things. Philippians 4:8

What is noble that we should think about? The dictionary defines noble as high-minded, magnanimous, loftiness of principle, character, mind or spirit and consistently adhering to elevated principles – a greatness of mind or soul. Wow!!! Is noble, then, expecting the best of ourselves and seeking out the best in others and the situations around us? I believe it includes such things as elevating lunch room talk…and others. I believe it includes admiring and being grateful for the beauty of each day, writing, art, and music that elevate us to a better place so that we are encouraged and in turn encourage others toward making their mark… living today on purpose.

I continue to look for the noble today…so grateful for the opportunity to lift another along the way.

You are known and you are worth it

Sometimes there are periods in our life where we feel we are a burden to those around us. We can’t seem to see our own value and stumble into self pity, fear and our confidence plummets. It actually changes the way we see everything and the energy we send out. If we are not careful the spiral can be like a tornado swooping down and laying ruin to our self esteem and swathing a path of injury and even destruction through our relationships.
Lucky for us there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. (Prov. 18:24b) O LORD, you have searched me and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O LORD. You hem me in—behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalms 139:1-6, 13-14)
Who are we to argue with the Creator? Read it as many times as you may need to bring your head up to face the newness of this day. For He knows you beyond measure and better than you know yourself and still He has called you wonderful. He has made you perfectly and uniquely you. Just let it soak in. For me there is always a flood emotion and it overwhelms me to be known and loved so deeply and fully.

I hope as this week meets its midway you are able to refresh, rebuild, and renew.

I thank my God every time I remember you – Philippians 1:3.

Let Your Life Paint a Picture

It’s a new day and the skies are different yet again. Isn’t it wonderful?! In their difference they, too are new as though God is changing a painting in progress. Just as each day our lives hold new color, prints and styles…..some we see as wonderful, beautiful and cherished while other events cause us to view the color or print with disdain. I say choose “life.” Choose to focus on those things with the brilliant, grand, soothing or delightful colors…. You may find something new and amazing there that seemed invisible before when the “unpleasant” colors were allowed to take up so much of the palate.

Alexander Graham Bell said, “When one door closes another door opens; but we so often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us.” Choose to look at the window – the beauty and wonder of those colors of your life where joy, dreams and imagination and creativity live.

God is at work in your life – let the warmth, life and radiance of the dreams He’s given you well up from within and beam from you – bringing life and light every where you go and be grateful each step of the way as He unfurls each footstep that brings you closer to the dream. Take that step in faith – He’s already there…. And you will see Him more fully with each exercise-of-faith step.

Show Kindess to others

Good Monday Morning!
I am grateful for wonderful weekends! And the opportunity a new week provides. We can look at the old with a fresh eye – with new solutions, ideas and energy! We also have the remarkable opportunity to bless someone today.
Eunice Bathrick wrote: Little acts of kindness which we render to each other in everyday life are like flowers by the wayside to the traveler: they serve to gladden the heart and relieve the tedium of life’s journey.
While I believe tedium only exists where we allow it, I also believe that small kindnesses are wonderful deposits towards a more successful work environment. Happier people produce better because they can see their possibilities. One is often cheered by a sincere smile, compliment, even a simple thank you. So – let’s bless someone today. If you’re really on a role – bless as many as you can. The blessings will return to you – maybe not by those you’ve blessed, but by the energy and love you have spread, by God Himself through another whom He has so inclined.

We are ambassadors

Every day is filled with miracles – whether it’s the miracle of life; or a sun rising at the perfect distance from our earth to shed light that empowers every living thing yet does not consume it; or a sky of colors you just can’t find in a crayon box; or the smile and embrace of a loved one; or even the near misses and right-ons of life – we are blessed with miracles in abundance.

It is a new day…. There are opportunities around every corner to meet new challenges with grace and confidence ON PURPOSE. The miracle may be that someone does not respond the way you anticipated, but surprise you pleasantly. You see, we all have the opportunity to grow/improve – spiritually, mentally, emotionally and even physically.

Let’s give each other the benefit of the doubt and always always look for the best light possible in one another…… remember, let them catch you smiling – not just your mouth… but your whole being…. Let those eyes twinkle and spread the light today for we are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.... (2 Corinthians 5:20)

Leap in Faith and Life

Today I am grateful for all that I have and the time (unknown) that I have left to enjoy.

Our days are numbered but none of us knows that number. So today – I choose to give it all I’ve got…. To shine bright, dream big and be honest in kindness and love.

I grew up in a family that camped on vacation. Those times provided me with memories, lessons and times that were very dear to me and have served me well throughout my life. My sister and I had a habit of running ahead on the trails to find the next new and exciting sight to behold, whether it was a babbling brook, a banana slug, or a cool big rock to climb and sit upon. Every moment held excitement and that bottled up energy inside so full of life. Every once in a while, however, I would have the great “luck” to have a snake meander across the path separating me from the rest. (I’m not so much into snakes.) One time a train was coming – my family had said – just jump over it – but I had visions of the snake jumping up and biting me as I jumped across… so I froze. My father came and I jumped toward him as he held his hand out to me.

There has always been safety in my father’s grasp or embrace. As times come that loom in front of us as “a snake” we must remember that our Heavenly Father’s grasp is there. His hand extended – His arms open saying – “jump, I’ll catch you.” In that leap of faith – we are free to live – to dream – to love all of those around us just as we are called to do in this life.
"yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God," Romans 4:20
So today, full of faith – jump, leap and run arms wide open into life and live this new day – running ahead, smiling, giggling, looking for the new and exciting sights along the way.

Awaken & Live in the Midst of the Storm

Lately the skies have been filling with clouds and sometimes yield amazing light shows, sunsets or just a sticky day. I must admit, I am often looking forward to the prospect of an amazing lightning display and accompanying thunder. I have always found the storms exciting, and if you will excuse the pun, electrifying. I am mesmerized and somewhat comforted as I strain to hear the voice of our Creator in the storm. "Under the whole heaven He lets it loose, And His lightning to the ends of the earth. 4"After it, a voice roars; He thunders with His majestic voice, And He does not restrain the lightnings when His voice is heard. 5"God thunders with His voice wondrously, Doing great things which we cannot comprehend. Job 37:3-5I love to stand in the midst of the blowing winds and pelting rain filled with wonder and wearing a smile. Washed over by the rain - refreshed and renewed - awakened by the lightning and thunder. It is awesome!We have the opportunity to do that everyday - as the clouds of sour economic news, unexpected health, job or marriage woes - we can smile take comfort in God's voice and even be renewed...we can stand in the belief that great works are at hand which we cannot comprehend. With calamity all around, his health failing and misery at every door, Job held fast to his belief in Almighty God and His promises. He is faithful. As the storms rage in our lives, His voice can be heard above the din, it is but ours to awaken and know that it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)I I see thunderheads building in the distance.....awaken and live!

To be known

Familiar sites for me – along Lake Tahoe. They make me smile and it’s almost as though I can feel the sun shining on my face – the cool mountain air dislodging my hair enough to cool my neck. Familiarity rests within our heart and is brought to the forefront when we see, hear, touch or smell something from our past or the joy of our heart in the present.


For me – my present is wonderful – a place where I love and am loved – my cup runneth over. When I view these familiar sites I am welled up to overflowing as they blend with my state of being.

To know and be known – to love and be loved – are the greatest cries of our heart. And now these three remain – faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1 Corinthians 13:13

Love is what makes “chores” into blessings to another. Love is why we hold onto someone dear shivering with fever with no regard for our own health. Love is what gets us up out of a comfy embrace to fetch a glass of juice or water for another…to do the mundane so that someone does not have to. It is love that never fails.

So in this new day … eyes twinkling bright with the love that fills your being - let it shine. Speak to another with a smile and let them feel familiar… loved.

Reach out in the midst of the clouds...

Today the sky is gray and the temptation to withdraw to a sofa and old movies might be so strong – we actually go there in our mind and block out (not so much intentionally) all that is around us while completing the “have to do”s. We are much like the child hiding behind their hands certain they have become invisible to those around them in the covering of their face……… Sorry – but we are see, found out, and can even be interpreted as being rude if our daze is so absorbing that we neglect those around us.

It’s a new day – and we don’t know exactly how many we have left, so we’d better make the most of this one.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Romans 12:10 -
My challenge to you – reach out to someone you haven’t talked to in a while and make sure they know they’re on your mind, that you care and that your life has been richer for their part in it.

So put on a smile – open your eyes (don’t forget to let them twinkle) – and go out to brighten your world.

Stand Tall and Lift Others with you

You can stand tall without standing on someone.
You can be a victor without having victims.

This sentiment appears on the signature block of a friend of mine and I’ve always loved it. If we are lifting others (each other) up then there are no victims… we are all victors in rising. For when we lift another – our hands are raised skyward acknowledging our “smallness,” and at the same time our strength in the lifting. And sometimes, we have to allow others to lift us.Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. (Ephesians 4:2)
A smile sent our way should never go unanswered – it should always be a dual blessing – though we should never expect its return to us. Some things naturally return to us in kind or in multitude simply because we’ve been the first to offer it. The shy and uncertain need to be bolstered by the light of your eye, acknowledgement and dawn of a bright smile.
I try to put this to practice – even with strangers – if someone looks lovely in something – why not say so? In the withholding, we’ve withheld love and kindness. I believe these things dawn on us because we are meant to share them. Even the man or woman who appears to have it all together may only be holding on by a thread. So lift high your beautiful smile, kind words and your neighbor today. Enjoy!

I see you shine!

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.” Philippians 13:4
What privilege and joy it brings to my heart each time I think of YOU. I am often gulping back tears when I see you – where you’ve been – what God has done in your life. You bless me! Your spirit shines brighter than you know, and while we are hasty to see and catalogue all of our misdeeds, ills, faults and past – we miss that we could shine brighter, love more, and still realize the dreams and visions God has given us if we let those things slough off of us as old skin – retain the lesson, but lose the “yuck.”
It was shared with me once by a wonderful pastor friend that wounds of heart and soul heal. Sure, they are there.. but one day… they hurt less, then a while later they don’t hurt anymore, but the scar is still there. We’ll remember the lesson because of the scar… but it no longer carries its pain and we can move on – loving better – into the world who has seen the wound and now your joy in moving on… and I always see a beaming, beautiful person emerging from the trial…. And I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.

Vision faith and Courage

Success requires the vision to see, the faith to believe and the courage to do.
Often we look at ourselves and say…it’s too late, I’m too old, too young, etc.. Today, though, I ask you again to dream… to dare to allow the vision that you push away to wash over you. See it clearly. Embrace it. Hang on to it and believe. And right now… today… take one step toward it.
You will have exhibited belief and courage; not only in yourself, but in mankind. You don’t know who’s watching you and may be inspired to allow their own dream and vision for their life to flourish, take flight and carry them right along with it.
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men [and women] of courage; be strong.

How amazing that we live in a country where – because the Bible was the root of our founding father’s design – we have the freedom to “fly”, to “be”… to dream and ACT ON IT.

Continue to Dream

Thought this would be a good time to remind you – At every crossroad – continue to follow your dream. Whether it’s hot, cold, muggy or mild outside – the dream you hold within should be sparkling in your eyes and give your face that beautiful countenance of light with a dash of joy as though you hold inside something just bursting at the seams to come out.

As we look to our friends – the spark can start a fire within them as well… and even to those with whom we come in contact.

Philippians 1:6 confirms this, "being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."

So close your eyes for a moment – FEEL what it would feel like to have achieved your dream just now – let it well up inside of you – now go forward with your day, grateful for the achievement and taking one step closer to its fulfillment.

How to help others

Charles Swindoll said “There is no more significant involvement in another’s life than prevailing, consistent prayer. It is more helpful than a gift of money, more encouraging than a strong sermon, more effective than a compliment, more reassuring than a physical embrace.”

How many times do we look at a day ahead or a circumstance and try to “figure out” how we are going to make it work. Imagine me – a creation – thinking I can even see all of the opportunities, tools, etc. available to me…. When all along the Creator Himself has told us – you have not because you ask not. He makes all things work together for good for those who love Him. That’s ALL things. So while prayer is not tangible, it’s the most awesome way we can contribute to another’s well being. God in His amazing love, power and kingdom has ALL – THAT’S EVERYTHING at His fingertips and His plans are far greater for us than we perceive or can dare to dream.

So – open your heart, mind and soul. Close your eyes for a moment and remember your dream. Now – lay it at His feet…. And watch with wonder as He honors each step in faith as you walk toward the dream He has given you.

How beautiful and true. We attract into our lives those things that we dwell upon. If our thoughts and energy is devoted to regret for action not taken, a road not traveled or the beating up of ourselves for that, then we dwell in a quagmire- stagnant and limiting as though quick sand pulling us under. If, however, we dwell on the future with joy and a dream before our eyes… we draw that to ourselves or conversely ourselves to the dream.

The Bible tells us “whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8)

Thinking otherwise does not prosper us. So today – I am grateful that I have a choice – and I choose to dream and to dwell on “such things.”

Finding Your Way

You may remember a couple of years ago a news story where two humpback whales (a mother and her calf) had lost their way. They came up the Sacramento River and far enough inland to have been spotted in West Sacramento at the Port. The water on their journey would have gone from wonderful ocean water – clean and beautiful to fresh water. Options would narrow along the way with the water becoming more and more murky and a deep channel being their only avenue narrowing the further inland it goes.
I think sometimes we are like the poor humpbacks who lost their way. We get our mind set (rightfully or otherwise) on a track and follow it – not noticing that the waters around us are being filled with the pollution of self-doubt, fear and worry until we no longer see the light.
Rescue crews were deployed for the whales to get them turned around; but it is not so with us. An observer might say “what in the world?” about our odd behavior, demeanor or mood, but alas, unlike the whales there is no rescue in sight.
There is one, however, Who knows our inmost being, Who is the lover of our soul – thankfully, He is also the Creator of the Universe and He can take the murk we’ve floundered into, lift our heads and continue His work in us.
For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:6
So, today, if you’re feeling inadequate, unable to see above the mud and mire – simply call His name and remember – He’s still working on you and you’re worth it!

And while we may fear the launch… the open hand… the sending….it is only in freedom that we can remain friends and lay fertile ground for love to continue it’s flight.
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36 (NIV)
Loving well says, “I want the best for you no matter what.” So today- along with loving the heroes who’ve brought our phy sical, educational, and spiritual freedom to this place, I encourage you to look again toward your dearest loved ones with stars in your eyes and allow their flight to the greatest heights they can achieve as we cheer along the way, understanding we truly hold no one…. Yet God holds on to us.

You’ll find in the “release to soar” that you feel refreshed and liberated from grasp as well – for the Son has set you free – Enjoy being free indeed.

July 9, 2009 Attitude of Gratitude

Not long ago I had chance to speak to a lady who was to be leaving on a cruise the following. As we spoke she indicated to me that this was a trip she and her husband had planned to take, but, alas, he died two months after a cancer diagnosis several month ago and so now her daughters would be accompanying her. She continued to say that they had been married for 53 years at his passing. You could see in her eyes that she was looking to another place and time as she lamented, “where did the time go? We had 14 years of retirement together. But, my time has just flown by. Where did the time go?”

Today, my friends, is again, a new day. We have the opportunity to make this day different from the rest… a new day to work on how we will be remembered. Are we living our lives in such a way as to make each day count? Are we living “on purpose?” I aim to. I want anyone who knows me to be able to smile, even chuckle, when they remember me…. as a character, an encourager, friend and lover of life and those within it.

So today is my opportunity to smile – and no matter what the day brings – make it count – ON PURPOSE.

You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in Your providence watched over my spirit. Job 10:12 NIV

Today - let's show kindness, laughter and the light of love that comes from our Creator – remember that a smile can change your whole day – and someone else’s at the same time.
