Look Around and be a blessing to someone

He surrounds me with loving kindness and tender mercies. He fills my life with good things! Psalm 103:4-5

Look around – are you one displaying loving kindness and tender mercies - is there someone that sticks out that does? Thank God and thank them.

Let’s be one of life’s good things to another today.

Guard your heart and mind and let life flow

A new amazing day presents itself this morning! Hopefully from you will flow the goodness and joy of your heart. Have you kept a vigilant watch on what you “receive” into your eyes, heart and mind?

Above all else, guard your heart for it is the wellspring of life….Proverbs 4:23

In moments of stress, turmoil and wear… what flows in your mind and heart? May it be filled with grace and gratitude and abundant life. Today – I am filled with gratitude for a life filled with love, laughter and grace.

Join me…. It is a great day – filled with life. Let’s live it on purpose and be generous with grace.

A New Dayt

There is a story of a little boy who – while playing with a slingshot – killed his grandmother’s duck that she loved to watch swim in her pond.

The boy became his sister’s slave as she blackmailed him with the information - leaving him to doing her chores as well as his own. Finally, breaking down, he confessed to his grandmother, who kindly confessed to him that she had known all along for she’d been at the kitchen window when the duck was killed and saw the whole thing. She was only waiting for him to come to her – he was already forgiven.

So it is with our Father in Heaven. This season finds remnants and memories of the past and broken relationships, of failures as another year closes, of deeds for which we would not be proud to have displayed in the town square (gossip, a drink too many, an unkind word or action, an untoward thought, a slip into an old addiction… the possibilities are many and as unique as each individual).

The good news is that Your Father was standing at the window and saw – you’ve been forgiven – and He doesn’t want you succumbing to the shame that continues to heap upon you unless you receive His forgiveness.

Today is a NEW DAY - Rejoice and be glad in it! Forgive yourself and be mindful that others are struggling through the same story – different details. Be kind and loving to them, too. You never know what visions/thoughts are keeping them down.

Beloved, let us love one another – for love is of God and he who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love, does not know God for God is love. 1 John 4:7-8

Let’s be beacons of hope, light and life and touch all of those around us. It is a legacy.

Live today in kindness - On Purpose

The other day I we were traveling down a road and became perturbed by a car stopped in the middle of the road blocking accesd in and out of a convenience store/gas station. As we lamented at our inconvenience, an ambulance came and stopped behind the vehicle. I felt so bad. I had no idea someone was in distress and had been so selfish in my thoughts. Later I found out about hidden agendas and the stress on the faces of some co-workers became more apparent.

As the news broke that September held the highest unemployment percentages yet in our state, I was reminded of how incredibly blessed I am to have a job, home and family. So - today - on purpose - I will endeavor to love better and to show each person I come in contact with that they count. Won't you join me?

In response to all He has done for us, let us outdo each other in being helpful and kind to each other and in doing good. Hebrews 10:24 (TLB)

Let's outdo each other with kindness

In response to all He has done for us, let us outdo each other in being helpful and kind to each other and in doing good. Hebrews 10:24 (TLB)

Today we all rest warmly in the knowledge that we live with a roof over our head and I can imagine a bounty of blessings that are beyond the imagination of others in our country and world. So today – whether your wealth is of joy, love, monetary, gratitude – show it. Live it out ON PURPOSE.

There's often someone struggling with packages in a store - a door held open with a smile would be a gift at that moment.

What about the person with the stressed look and one item in the grocery store who had the unhappy luck of finding no free lines - surely they are on their way somewhere and fretting being late. Wouldn't a welcome switch in line be a gift?

How about helping your neighbor with the lights or what about the neighbor you've noticed normally celebrates big and there's no sign this year....wouldn't a beautiful wreath and a "how are you?" bless them?

ON PURPOSE - Let's outdo one another showing love and compassion for others and each other.

Being Grateful for You

Today I am grateful that we are all “wired” differently – so unique in looks, size, shape, perspective, life experience, dream, goals, and gifts.

Truly our gifts are meant to bless one another…and God’s gifts have been so gracious and so very big, yet required only a word on His part. Amazing that we will look in the mirror and find every fault – each new sign that we are a day older and criticize what God called “very good” and created “in His image.” While we may see the beauty in others – we do not see what they see in us. How we take for granted that great and awesome heritage and the One Who delights in us so. Remember you are important enough that He knows your name – and yes, even the number of hairs on your head.

I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful , I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

When we look around – let us not only see the beauty in another, but join in the celebration He intends – LIVING ON PURPOSE – and proclaiming loudly:

O Lord, what a variety You have made! And in wisdom You have made them all! The earth is full of Your riches. Psalm 104:24

Trust in the Lord - He is your refuge in times of trouble

Have you ever been so taken aback by something that your knees nearly buckled from under you? Have you had to take time, quietly, in your heart to try to figure things out? Judging from the emails about accidents and the daily news, I would imagine you have.

Luckily, we have a guide, directions to go on - in whom to place our trust and hope...our perfect Creator, Lord God Almighty. Trust in HIm with all your heart - He will never lead you astray or disappoint....or hide from you.

In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Psalm 31-1

You are understood

Have you ever felt misunderstood, relegated to the "back seat" and as though your words and the love, joy and admiration with which they were sent did not meet the hearer in the same way as you had intended? The backlash of such misunderstanding is always painful and finds its place in the heart to ache. I know what "crestfallen" is for I have felt that at such times. While some are stubborn and refuse to receive such love, insistingon alternate meanings to our compliment and encouragement - we are never misunderstood by God.

It is so comforting to know that our Father in Heaven never misunderstands or twists our words because He is the lover of our soul. He has (A)searched me and known me. 2)[He] knows when I sit down and when I rise up; [He} (C)understand my thought from afar. 3[He] (D)scrutinizes my path and my lying down, And [is] intimately acquainted with all my ways. 4Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You (E)know it all. (Psalm 139:1-4)

What a joy to be known to our deepest depths and loved unconditionally even with all our "warts" bared. Our God will never leave us. For he promises - I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee” (Hebrews 13:5).

Today, dear friends, I hope you can hold on to and rest in these truths. You are amazing and were created to be the best you imagine and dream to be. Count on it. Live it on purpose today.
